The construction industry has witnessed a significant rise in the use of Structural Insulated Panels for use in the erection of both residential and commercial buildings.
SIPs construction provides very thermally efficient buildings with a much improved air tightness, contributing significantly to energy conservation, carbon reduction and provides good scores on the Code for Sustainable Homes; the standard that social housing is now built to. In addition to those features when using SIP panels in conjunction with concrete or steel framed building for infill or cladding the improvements in the speed of construction is very considerable.
It is against this backdrop and the growing consumption for SIPs in the UK the leading SIP manufacturers and supply chain partners to those manufacturers have formed the first UK SIPs suppliers association.
The UK SIP Association was incorporated on the 1st April 2009 and has been formed to represent the industry, responding to technical issues that may occur with modern building techniques, information required by the market on SIPs construction in a broader context than just the view of one supplier/manufacturer and to communicate to all members influences and issues that may impact the SIPs industry.
If you've got the skills to work within the SIPS industry then we'd like to hear from you.
