The UK Structural Insulated Panel Association (UKSIPS) ran a
series of seminars at the recently held Timber Expo event.
The two-day programme of seminars and tutorials in the SIP Talk theatre attracted hundreds of delegates to not only listen to the presentations but to view the seminar theatre which was constructed by SIP technology.
The seminar sessions were technically focused, with case study examples, reflecting the five key subjects highlighted in UKSIPS Technical Bulletins to be published in the next few weeks; from Structural to Acoustic performance. Passivhaus/Low Carbon design with SIPS was also included. The case study themes were sector specific, covering for example housing, education, hotels & leisure, healthcare and multi-storey construction.
Chairman Andrew Orriss said, ‘There is a real thirst
for knowledge on SIPS technology as it is making serious advances into the
construction arena. Timber Expo gave us the perfect platform to promote the
benefits to developers and contractors, so they realise the huge savings in
time and cost this modern method of construction offers as a readily available
low carbon building solution.’
If you've got the skills to work within the SIPS industry then we'd like to hear from you.
